Cycling activities in Wakefield

Adults
BASIC - Back on your Bike
If you're a non-rider, or haven't ridden for a long time this session is for you.
What: A 2 hour cycle training lesson in group of upto 6, working with 2 qualified Bikeability instructors. The session starts on a flat off-road area and progresses onto local roads at a rate to suit the group.
Who: Adults age 16+ (or 14+ if participating with a parent/guardian)
Where: Well Project Haw Hill Park, Castleford Rd, Normanton WF6 2DP
When: Various evening and weekend sessions in September. See the booking page for available dates and times.
ADVANCED - Commuter Training
If you're a confident rider who wants to gain the skills and confidence to enable you to cycle safely to work or college, this session is for you.
What: A 1:1 cycle training lesson with a qualified Bikeability instructor. The level is flexible to suit your ability but will typically start on quieter roads before tackling some busier traffic.
Who: Adults age 16+ (or 14+ if participating with a parent/guardian)
Where: Starting from your home or work place so that you can learn the roads and junctions on your regular route.
When: Time arranged to suit you. The session is upto 2 hours long.
Children
FREE Bikeability sessions available during the October half-term holiday for those year 6 children who missed out on Bikeability at Wakefield area schools this year.
What: This is a whole day course covering Bikeability Level 2, The course starts with some skills practice on a flat off-road area before progressing onto quiet local roads for some on-road practice. Children can use their own bikes and helmets, or borrow one of ours. (helmets must be worn). Bring a packed lunch!
Who: This Bikeability cycling course is suitable for children who have just left Primary school and missed out on doing it during the school term. (Year Six going into Year Seven in September)
Where: Courses are available in two sites, St George's Community Centre, Lupset, Wakefield; and St Mary's Community Centre, Pontefract
